Time Out says

In 2012, Brett Bara provided a single-day crafting camp in the basement of a local church. The success of the workshop led Bara to open a permanent studio: Brooklyn Craft Company. In the first three years, the school only offered a variety of creative workshops for adults. Today, Brooklyn Craft Company is a thriving craft supply store in addition to an educational workshop space. The store is full of crafting supplies like embroidery tools, cardstock and other crafting paper, sewing machines, and over 600 different styles of fabric.

Brooklyn Craft Company offers several beginner-friendly courses to help you complete any creative project with confidence. There are multiple classes in their Sewing 101 series, with each focusing on a specific garment. Some of these include a tote bag, pajama pants, and a zip-up hoodie. There are also beginner classes in quilting, knitting, hand-lettering, watercolor, and much more.

More experienced participants can also explore their intermediate offerings, like a workshop on sewing a button-down shirt. In this course, participants will learn all of the essential steps to create this garment, from proper body measurement techniques to creating collars, cuffs, and buttonholes. Students will also receive expert guidance as they troubleshoot common sewing difficulties. Students can also purchase a spot in their open sewing hours if they simply want to work on their own projects in a comfortable space while mingling with like-minded peers.

Folks who have attended workshops at Brooklyn Craft Company often describe them as fun, easy, and informative. The laid-back nature of the courses allow students to feel at ease connecting with others as they learn more about the projects they’re creating. The instructors are clearly experienced and are able to offer helpful feedback and hands-on support to ensure students stay on the right track. Many participants report taking multiple classes at Brooklyn Craft Company and wanting to sign up for more.
